Prayagraj Development Authority

Established in 1974 under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning & Development Act 1973, PDA has progressed from small beginnings to embrace an overreaching authority in the development scenario of Prayagraj. In consonance with the aspirations of modern India, PDA aims at coordinated and planned development of a historical city: which has played a very important role in the Freedom Struggle, to extend urban infrastructure to absorb the pressures of a rapidly changing society, and to provide an environment which would enable the utmost satisfaction level of all sections of its inhabitants. To fulfill its role, the Authority seeks to coordinate in accordance with a comprehensive Master Plan along with the work of various other agencies involved in the creation and extension of urban infrastructure.

Our Objective

The objects of the Authority shall be to promote and secure the development of the development area according to the plan and for that purpose the Authority shall have the power to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of land and other property, to carry out building, engineering, mining and other operations, to execute work in connection of supply of water and electricity, to dispose of sewage and to provide and maintain other services and amenities and generally to do anything necessary to expedient for purpose of such development and for purpose of incidental thereto: Provided that save as provided in the U.P. Urban Planning and Development act nothing contained in this Act shall be construed as authorizing the disregard by the Authority of any law for the time being in force.
